The Committee took out 2 boats yesterday to test our Covid safe Protocol ahead of Saturdays excursion row.
All seemed to go well, however we learned that:
1: it may take more than a crew of 5 to launch and recover the boats. Therfore we can allow both crews to work on launch and recovery PROVIDING care is taken to keep spaced out on the boats.
2. When boats are launched, take care not to breach the 1 metre+ gap between boats... its easy to step out of a boat into the personal space of another.
3. The cox will be a bit muffled behind mask and visor, so it helps to repeat any orders if there is a thought it might not be heard.
4. Don't do too much in the first outing, blisters are a real possibility!
Otherwise all good for Saturday. Given the demand for rowing, the Captains will change the call for Saturday to allow 2 outings for 2 boats... so hopefully fit everyone in.
