Bembridge Gig and Galley festival Sat 10th and Sun 11th July - not enough for a crew

Hi all,
        I asked some while ago for interest in this event and had lots of enthusiastic responses. I now need to give you some more details and see who is keen to commit to go.

We would like to row the Galleys over to Bembridge on Friday 9th if the weather is suitable ( High tide is 12:30 in both harbours ) and possibly back on either Sunday or Monday. However this would require considerably less wind than we have been experiencing recently and so we need to book the double trailer onto the ferry on Saturday returning Sunday to make sure we are able to attend the event.
The cost of this is £210 return which would need to be shared between the people who want to go.
Because there are a number of races planned we would share the rows between the people who attend rather than take more boats due to the transport costs.
You would also need to arrange your own ferry crossing and accommodation if you plan to stay overnight.
The organisers are planning an evening event with a BBQ and music on the Saturday.

The only other slightly unfortunate thing is that this clashes with the third 5 miles from home event which is over the same weekend. It might just about be feasible to do both but probably better to choose which you prefer to do!

I think it will be a really good event and great to support the Yarmouth Rowing club who have rowed across to our Round Hayling race in the past. There are other clubs attending so it might be our first chance for a long time to socialise with them outdoors.

I knew what you meant - even before the correction! However,  ........since the original notification several other things have crept into my diary, and so I have a qualified...

YES, I am still interested

BUT, I may be restricted as to when I am available, as a duty on Sunday morning - and the re-opening of Stansted House ( " Stansted Unlocked") on the Saturday and Sunday will get in the way of a decent row!

SO......if you are rowing across to the island on Friday (or even very early on Saturday) I am your man. If Stansted do not require me on the Saturday then I'm available all that day - but I won't know that for a week or so yet. And if you are rowing back late on Sunday it might be possible to fit that in as well!
 NOW... you know as much as I do, and probably wish you didn't!!!

Hi Rachel, am interested in the event, and an assuming that as our crew did not complete the first leg of the 5 miles series, are now not able to complete the other 2 races?. currently free on Friday and Saturday, possibly Sunday. Marion x

Hi Marion. Great that you are interested in Bembridge but not true about 5 miles. Each leg is open to everyone and we can put up to seven boats out as we've registered them all.
