Dear Happy Rowers
It is great so many are getting back to rowing and we want to make rowing available as much as we can
However I just want to bring to your attention that if someone who has taken part in rowing and then shortly after tests positive for COVID which is then reported to us we as a club have a duty to advise both Test and Trace ( Health England ) and the rest of the crew that was in the boat with the person who tested positive .
This would mean the whole crew in that boat would have to self isolate for 14 days from the date of the row.
It has been pointed out to me that if there was an incidence of a positive test during or after this weekend anyone effected would have to self isolate over Christmas.
Please can I therefore ask that if you feel in any way unwell you be responsible and caring for the other members of the club especially as we are living in hope that we are just about to turn a corner with this epidemic. Similarly whilst I feel the risk of an incident is very remote if you feel you do not want expose yourself to the potential of having to self isolate over the festive period it will be fine for one to choose not to row.
I only want to encourage rowing - the more the better but we do feel we have a duty of care to mention this
If anyone has any questions please do not hesitate to call me on 07793 838261 . Splashing Times Colin
