In view of weather forecast for Friday, of rain, and the fact that only 2 people have signed up for this, the row is cancelled.
Daate Friday 22nd July
All day Row to East Head for picnic, swimming, ball games , Frisby etc.
This is something a little different but has been done before. The tides are ideal to allow us to row to East head on a dropping tide and return to Langstone in the evening on a rising tide. This is very dependent on the weather being hot and dry. If the weather is likely to be overcast, no one will want to spend a day on a beach. So watch out for any update on the day before . The day would look like this:-
07:14 (High Water at 3.8m)
08:00 hrs – depart langstone
Row down Chichester harbour on falling tide (i.e tide with us) to NW Pilsey Bouy
Then take direct course to East Head
09:30 Arrive East Head approx
Beach boats to dry out on sands as tide falls
Spend day at beach
16:15 Depart and row back to Langstone on rising tide (with us)
17:45 approx – arrive back at Langstone
Put boats away being 2 hrs before high water at 19:45 (3.8m)
Things to bring – swimming costume, towel, sun cream, hat, plenty of water to remain hydrated . It would also be nice to bring food to share. If bring food to share, please post what you plan to supply.
For those who do not wish to row, they can drive to West Wittering car park where East Head is approx ¾ mile walk.
As for facilities, West Wittering is a tidy walk away, so calls of nature need to be in the dunes or in the sea
