Dear Rowers and club members
Fantastic news we have over 20 odd interested in the Hamble River Raid . THE Blue Army of Langstone Cutters will be out in force !!! Happy Days The Eastney Cruising Association are planning a weekend of rowing on the 20th May and 21st May, Two days of exercise and rowing Eastney is operate in Langstone Harbour so not so far away and they have have planned 1 Sprint Racing on Saturday from around 10.30 . Nice short quick races followed by a 3 mile race out to the fairway marker and back ( A race of between 30 mins and 45 mins ) so with in the capabilities of most club members and open to all. 2 On the Sunday starting around 12.30 will be a handicap race of 7 miles ( 1hour 15mins duration ) out to a fort and back so there is potential for some bouncy water and I would suggest open to those with experience There will be plenty of opportunity to win trophies for the Gigs, Solent Galleys and Skiffs As you can imagine the races and courses are all weather dependent but assuming the conditions are good we can expect two glorious days with BBQs arranged by our hosts IF you are interested and want to take part please can you let me know . Please let me know if you want to compete in 1 the Sprint Racing 2 the 3 mile Fair mile marker race 3 the 7 mile Cockleshell Heroes Challenge to one of the Forts and back You can sign up for 1,2 and 3 and combination of all three or all three and we will try and fit in all who want to take part Its another time to don the Blue of Langstone and take to the water ( Oh by the way if you can tow a boat as well please let me know as we need to get the fine craft to the start ) Best Wishes Colin |

I'm interested, and could tow a 2 wheel trailer (not allowed the 4 wheel anymore). May also have other duties that weekend so may have to be flexible...

Hi Colin,
Would love to do the three and seven mile races please Colin. I have a lot of experience in handling boats and rowing in very challenging conditions on the open sea as well if course as rowing in harbours. Thanks, Best Andy PS Happy to row a Claydon or Galley. |
