Sadly, Henley Whalers could not get a crew together for the Cowes trip this year so we are on our own, but the good news is that the weather forecast for Monday Jan 2 is sunny.
The less good news is that it will be rather breezy at F4 gusting F5 according to the Met Office (and XC Weather shows F6), so we may have to divert the row to the sheltered waters of the Hamble.
The next not so good thing is that the new gates to the Lodge are still not complete so we can't get the trailers out. This means we are limited to a Claydon and a galley, a maximum of 12 people.
The crews are as follows:
Steve
Rachel
Les
Alison
Alan
Jonathan
Andy
Dee
Barry
Shanaz
Marion
Me
If any of you are no longer available please let me know as soon as possible so someone else can take the seat. Sincere apologies to everyone left on the bank. You will get preference next time.
The weather tomorrow is still forecast to be sunny (hooray!) but windy (boo!) and although the maximum gust is predicted to be a tolerable F5 there is going to be a lot of lumpy water in the wake of the gale that is expected to pass through tonight, so in the interests of comfort and safety I suggest we adopt Plan B: The Hamble. HW at Warsash is 13.11.
Here's the itinerary:
09.30 Meet boat park
10.30 Depart Warsash
11.30 Launch Warsash
12.30 Lunch at Horse and Jockey, Curbridge
16.00 Return Langstone.
All welcome at the Horse and Jockey, a lovely pub with gardens going down to the river.
Sorry for the short notice but I have gone down with the lurgy and can't make today. Trust me you would rather not catch this one! Hope you have a great row
Rachel
