Cowes Row Sunday NOTE REVISED CREW LIST AND FOOD ORDERING SYSTEM
This post was updated on .
The weather looks a bit marginal (westerly wind F4/5) but at least it is likely to be dry. A decision will be made on Saturday and exact times announced then, but assume we will be out all day.
We only have trailer space for four boats so we will be taking both Claydons, the Celtic Longboat and a galley.
Sadly, this restricts numbers to 23 (only 5 in Sweare Deep). Normally it would be first come first serve but obviously drivers need places and I need to ensure a good number of strong rowers, so I am sorry if anyone has lost out- next year, perhaps!
The crews are as follows:
Gladys - Me
Mabel - Sue L
Sweare Deep - Tim
Galley - Michael
Sorry Chris, did mean to tell you before today but we (Stephen and Wendy) are not able to come on the Cowes row now. We have a new puppy and could not leave him all day and to be honest I don't think we are up to it! Sorry again for short notice 😔
Food on Sunday
Geoff Probert of Henley Whalers has arranged for the Fountain in Cowes to feed us once again. He writes:
Whalers and Cutters,
The outing on Sunday is still uncertain due to wind forecasts. These have been changing and so the decision to proceed or abandon may be taken very late.
We are due to have lunch at the Fountain Inn in Cowes as in recent previous outings.
Due to the uncertainty they have asked that we pre-order from a short menu. This way they can quickly and easily serve us and minimise wastage if we have to cancel.
If you are due to come on the Icebreaker outing please have a look at the menu choices (attached) and follow this link and answer the questions NOW so that I may inform the Fountain Inn of choices.
Here is the menu:

As Geoff says, the forecast is a bit marginal with all sites predicting a steady F4 westerly which is fine but gusting to F5 or 6 which would cause problems as it will be blowing right onto the slipway. Watch this space!
