Day row to East Head Sat 21 July - new information

Mark Taylor
The following was originally posted on 23 June to give all adequate notice. Now we are getting closer to the date and the weather for this Saturday is looking very promising, I thought we would re-post in case others would like to join in.

The plan for this Saturday 21 July is to  take advantage of the early and late tides to do a picnic day excursion to East Head. HW times are 07:06 and 19:40. So day would look like this:-

Meet at 08:00. Depart Langstone 08:15 and row with the tide to East Head (arriving around 10:00)

Spend day at East Head for swimming, barbecue, picnic, frizbie, foootie, cricket etc. Boats can be easily beached while tide drops away. We will be on the beach for around 6 hours, so ideal opportunity to bring children or grand children either by boat, or they could meet us there.

Depart East Head around 16:00for row back to Langstone with the tide arriving at Langstone around 18:00 .

As of Wednesday 18 July, the weather outlook for Saturday is Sunny 25 degrees force 2 westerly. It does not get much better for an event like this.  But this is obviously all subject to weather conditions on the day, no one wants to spend a day out if it is foul, so I will update as we get closer to the weekend as to whether it is still viable if weather predictions change.

If you would like to join in please post here and also please advise what you would bring in the way of food and drink to share for a picnic. Also if you have any games etc suitable for beach play, please post what you are bringing. If you wish to bring barbecue, then the disposable foil ones are best, they can be immersed in the sea afterwards to cool off and taken home as rubbish.

We're probably going to need 2 foil BBQs, quantity of sausages to match people, bread, portioned cakes, your own choice of drinks, own cup, plate. We'll bring barbecue tools, bin bags, kitchen roll flapjacks.

Don't forget towels, swimming costumes, sun protection and plenty of water.

I have let Itchenor, Bosham, Dolphin and Langstone Gig know about our plans and invited them to join us at East Head if they can.

The list of interested parties so far are (and therefore only need to post what food/games they are bringing)
Christine
Marcus
Mark
Frances
Mike Gilbert
Dave
Jenny
Sue Loveridge
Bobby
Nigel (committed but not posted)
Dee (possibly by Road)

Also ideal opportunity for GRR training.

So, if interested, put the date in your diary, and sign up in the usual way.

I was going to bring meatballs - easy to cook thoroughly - but seeing what others have already promised will now bring something different for "mains" (veggie?) and will also bring strawberries, bananas and apples for sweet. I will have a cool box
