Eastney Cruising Association are holding their annual Cockleshell Challenge on the 19th July.
This is a challenging 7 mile Solent race, in honour of the Cockleshell Heroes, from Eastney Cruising Association (ECA) along Southsea sea front and back via the Solent Forts. It is a handicapped race where we will be racing against Cornish Pilot Gigs, Burseldon Gigs, Celtic Longboats and Skiffs.
The ECA has a fantastically located, professionally run clubhouse with full facilities including galley (open for breakfast and lunches) and (discounted) bar.
Please note that numbers of boats per club may be restricted again this year. If we are oversubscribed we will give priority to people who row regularly with the club and also choose stronger rowers for a couple of race crews. The entry fee is £10 per rower, coxes who do not row go free. We need to cover towing costs and pin money so the cost will be £15 each.
Please post as soon as possible if you are interested in taking part as the deadline for boat entry payments is 30th June so we need a good idea of numbers before that.
