Thanks, Pete, for the update, with clear indication about which vhf channel to use!
Using this process should help in establishing the Cutters as being a responsible and mindful part of the (Langstone) harbour community.
For the infrequent users of vhf it might be useful to note :-
Channel 80 is a DUPLEX channel, i.e the sender transmits on one channel {frequency} and receives on a different channel. This means when we use channel 80, WE can hear the Marina answering, but cannot hear other traffic that the Marina may be having.
[saves “clutter”, but you might not be aware of another boat in your vicinity]
For general club or ship-to-ship activities, many UK marinas and yacht clubs use SIMPLEX {single frequency} channels like M1 (Channel 37) or (P4) M2, where both sides of a conversation can be heard by all nearby vessels.
So if you are in the vicinity of either of the Emsworth sailing clubs you can hear ALL the sailing chatter going on (including from the officials onshore) and, if necessary, contact them with relevant safety information.
