Ferry booking for boats

Hi all,
        Thank you for paying your £80 boat transporting costs so promptly. I have received them from everyone confirmed to be going which is currently 25 people. The boats/ trailers are safely booked on the following ferries.

Portsmouth Caen -  Sun 26th May   08:15 – 15:00
Caen Porstsmouth – Mon 3rd June  16:30 – 21:25

The sole reason for the choice of this route was the 20% reduction we received as arranged by the festival organisers. This was worth a lot of money on a booking for 3 large trailers.

The people towing ( huge thanks for offering ) and their those sharing their cars as backup/support are as follows:

James Griffin + Geoff Shilling
Nigel Armstrong + Graham Lloyd
Steve Woods + Barry Scott ( Marilyn, Jackie and I are also in the van but we plan to chat and laze about and will be paying as extra passengers)

So far I have collected 25 x £80 = £2000
The cost of the ferry for cars, trailers and 2 passengers in each was £1516. Which leaves £484 which I will
squirrel away to cover additional insurance for the towing vehicles if needed and fuel for towing. If there is anything left after this I propose donating it to the club for our use of the boats.

The trailer I was allocated to HRR which i believe is the same one i will be taking to France
did not have a safety chain on it
I think i really must insist that one is provided & fixed as my French does not extend to explaining
to a Gendarme why the trailer i was towing overtook me on the motorway.

If you remember we talked about this at the HRR and I said I would get one this week. As it happens I'm on my way to pick it up at the moment, so- barring fixing it, it's sorted (I hope!). Will let you know if there are any difficulties.

Must admit, having had trailers 'mysteriously' come off now and then I always like a chain.....not to be confused with a breakaway cable which applies trailer brakes and then intentionally snaps, letting your car run away out of the way of the car behind which presumably has just smacked into your trailer or caravan you've left parked on the middle of the road...
