I have just discovered the amazing Philips VitalSigns app, which uses your iPhone or iPad selfie camera to measure your heart rate and breathing rate. Apparently it detects 'microblushes' caused by the rush of blood to the face when your heart beats, and movements of the chest wall in breathing. Search VitalSigns on the App Store - it is only 79p.
