Full day excursion to East Head Wednesday 4th June 08:25 (CANCELLED)

Dave M
This post was updated on .
To follow on from Mark T's post: Assuming the weather will be forecast to be warm, sunny and not windy, is anyone up for a full day excursion to East Head beach on Wednesday 4th June, to join Slipper and other rowing clubs? If the weather does not meet that given, the row will not go ahead as over 5 hours on a beach in less favourable weather will be far too long.

The timetable for the day will be as follows (slightly different timings from Mark's as low/high tides are slightly later in Northney):

08:25 Meet at Boat Park
08:40 Set off for East Head (with the tide).
10:10 Arrive East Head
Spend day on beach with rowers from Slipper club and other clubs for games, swimming, BBQ, etc.
15:50 Depart East Head for Langstone (again with the tide).
17:20 Arrive back at Langstone; high tide is at 19:26

You will need to bring some food, drink and sun lotion and maybe some form of shelter if you do not want to be out in the sun all day.

Please sign up if interested; if you have any games that you can bring, please indicate that on the post.

We will only have limited access to the forum over the next 10 or so days, so we might be a tad slow to respond if anyone has any questions.

Dave, my notification from CYC called it Three Harbours Celtic Picnic Row.

It's definitely not just for Celtic Longboats (CYC might perhaps have said this because it's what they've got?)
Mark T had the idea from Slipper Club, and he has invited all the harbour clubs, no matter what they row, so Langstone can go in any combination of boats.... some people from Slipper Club are sailing over!
It'll be lovely if it can go ahead

The only limiting factor is the weather (of course), as no one wants to be stuck over there all day in indifferent weather
Hope to see you there

The forecast for Wednesday is for sunny intervals but quite strong winds. A decision is being made tomorrow (Tuesday) morning as to whether the row will take place or not. Please re-check the post on Tuesday morning. Even if Slipper decide to go ahead with the event, we are currently in a position where we do not have sufficient numbers to make a crew.

Sorry Dave I am going to have to pull out of the row due to a pulled leg muscle, have been advised to do light exercise only.

Due to the forecast strong winds and colder temperatures, Slipper will not be doing the row, so we will follow suit.

Anne - thanks for letting me know; hope your leg muscle mends soon.

I will post for a weekend row either later today or first thing tomorrow; based on current forecast, the row is more likely to be Sunday than Saturday.
