I know that most people will have already seen this on Facebook ( along with some brilliant photos ) or looked at the GRR website but for the benefit of those that haven't and because I like to keep a record of these things.
In order of arrival at the finish line:-
Gladys 3:12:53
Mabel 3:19:38
Sweare Deep 3:02:04
Langstone Lady 3:33:11
The men in Gladys retained the Claydon trophy for the club. Their only competition this year was Mabel, but you have to be in it to win it and it matters a great deal to the Langstone Cutters to hold this trophy!
The ladies in Mabel won the Ladies Vets Over60 trophy and just look at the time they did it in! They were also 12th ladies overall. These are very strong ladies and excellent rowers to get such a good time in such a heavy boat. Respect !!
The mixed crew in Sweare Deep had three ladies doing the GRR for the first time and they stormed down the course finishing 7th out of 15 mixed Celtics, beating CShel the LPGC mixed Gig by 0.12 seconds ( not that I'm competitive )
The Langstone Lady crew braved a starting position in the middle of the Gigs ( what on earth was that all about ?? ) and did well to avoid collisions in the part of the race where 150 boats started in 5 minutes.. Needless to say the first 6 bridges were mayhem. It is so good to show off our beautiful Galley at this event.
Well done to everyone who took part and thank you to all the people who helped load, unload, clear the boat park and put everything back. A great team effort and a brilliant weekend.
