Ahoy!
So having spoken to all the towers. Here is the plan where we rowers can make their life as easy as possible. Please don’t be shy with offering your assistance at both or either ends.
Logistics at The Hamble can be a challenge and with 5 boats to launch and re trailer( please car share where you can). Towers perhaps let rowers what space you have in your vehicles. Below is the plan.
1.
16th May. 1600hrs Cutters Boatyard :we will be loading and prepping the trailers for towing with Langstone Lady/ Sallyport/ SweareDeep/Mabel and Gladys..I would request a MINIMUM of 16 of us to load the solent galleys…so please make yourself available Friday.
We will leave them all on site overnight.
2.
17th May. (Low Tide 0811 hrs). I would like those of you not car sharing to head straight for Hamble and be in a position to meet our trailers as they arrive. I hoping we will get there early enough so that we can unload and put the trailers in the Donkey Field before it gets busy.
0800hrs . Mabel/Gladys hook up and leave in convoy
0815hrs . Sweare Deep/Galley trailer hook up and leave in convoy.
0845hrs ish. Mabel/Gladys arrive and unload at Hamble.
0900hrs ish SwD and Solent Galleys arrive at Hamble and unload and park.
As hopefully you have written the day off for this grand adventure, if you are not travelling with a tower please can you make sure you are at the launch slipway by 0845 to help unload.
3. 17th May (20.30hrs LW) the return. Post event obvs we want to have cake and medals 🥇. Having spoken to our towers, I would like us to help them as much as possible, as the post event journey is long for quite a few. So please can we all facilitate their requests to get the boats loaded asap. It has been muted that we can have a club beer at the Royal Oak. I’m not sure the earliest we can get back to the boat yard because of the tides but will be led by the experience of our towers. Ideally we are looking to unload the trailers unloaded and back on the dolly’s that night.
