Hamble River Raid - Saturday May 17

This great event is looming and this year we need to be a bit better prepared.
Please indicate here if you are interested in taking part - full details are at http://www.hambleriverraid.com/
The organisers are very keen we take a galley or two, and strong competition is going to be put up by Avery A, the local Solent galley.
Christine and I will once again be competing in a Teifi and we need a cox - any volunteers?

I'd really like to take part again this year. Is anybody interested in getting together a Solent Galley men's team to train for this?

Boats entering the Hamble River Raid need to register by April 1 to gain the reduced fee of £20. From then to April 15 it is £25 and late entries are £40.
So anybody else interested? Speak now!

There doesn't seem to be much interest shown in here Chris, unless of course people have contacted you directly?

Christine and I are entering in a Teifi again, but there is still time for a galley crew to emerge.

Hi Chris and Damian,

Sorry I hadn't got round to posting but I'm certainly keen to be involved in a galley crew, maybe a mixed if there is not enough interest for a mens boat Damian? I'm committed with Scillies gig training at the moment but after that would love to get out more with the Cutters and this jaunt sounds fun as does the Netley regatta if I'm available. Alison

The organiser of the Hamble River Raid requests the return of the Concours d'Elegance trophy - apparently the Post Office has offered to display the silverware in their window for the weeks preceding the event. Who has it? Could you possibly get it back from 'uncle' and bring it along on Sunday so he can pick it up at the Blessing of the Boats?

Chris how are you doing on this? I would lie to have another go at this event - perhaps in 15 Seconds or a Galley..

As in previous years, Christine and I are going to take a Teifi, or a Salter if the rowlocks aren't ready. I think we now have a galley crew, don't we? If Bembridge is ready she would be a shoe-in for the Concours d'Elegance again unless something like Gloriana turns up.

We have nearly two crews for the Hamble River Raid.
Christine, Frances (cox) and I are taking a Teifi.
So far, we have Alan Harding, Alison Kidd, Damian Grounds and Mike Gilbert also expressing interest. Is anyone else interested so we can put up a galley? With this lot it will be a strong crew.

Due to changing plans, I find that I'm now going to be around for the weekend of this event.

If there is space or a cancellation, I would love to be considered for a galley seat.

Regards,

Chris

There is of course no I in TEAM..... and my post should have read 'we', as in Hilary and I.

Unfortunately there is only a ME in our TEAM, as it turns out Debbie is playing tennis on the 17th and I should have known that.....

HI I would love to join you as really had a great time last year but dont know if I am around yet that weekend - some crazy idea of a girls walking weekend - I mean who wants to walk when you could row.  Chris when you know who you have got and if you need another pair of hands can you let me know as that might swing the decision.

Oh by the way if the trophy you are referring to is the one that the Bembrisdge crew won last year for looking particularly beautiful - I had it engraved (too late now if not ok) and gave it to Geoff as he has most to do with keeping her looking gorgeous!
