Hi all,
We have received an invitation from Malcolm Knight to attend what looks like an amazing Festival at Kingston on Thames.
Here is an extract from the invitation document ( which is linked below ). It sounds like a perfect event to take the Galleys to!
Kingston will be marking the 1100 anniversary of the crowning of King Æthelstan in Kingston with a six month cultural celebration, a highlight of which will be the River Cultures Festival, with a day of family friendly entertainment on land and water. As part of this huge celebration, Thames Alive will be creating a flotilla of craft (both powered and unpowered) to be assembled from Hampton Court Bridge and to process to Ravens Aitand Canbury Gardens. The flotilla will act as herald for King Æthelstan and his Court to the site of his Coronation. The boat crews in this “Royal” section will be encouraged to dress in period costume, and in time honoured fashion, be armed to defend their King elect.
Link to Invitation to River FestivalWe need a volunteer to organise as the date clashes with Monster the Loch, and as usual we would need a tower or towers. Please post below if you are interested in taking part and say whether you can help organise, tow or cox.
Malcolm has sent the Outline Timetable for the day
Outline Timetable Matt is organising this event for us so please contact him with any questions.Thank you
