slightly off topic, but in the same spirit, those who want to see QE come in by boat might like to register here....the main problem being no-one knows when she'll actually come in...i.e Tomorrow week or Friday

OK let's do it. We can launch at Hardway and watch her come into the harbour and dock from the Gosport side. Exact date and times to be decided.

Can I express interest in this one, if it goes ahead. May need a helping hand to get into boat but think I should be ok to row. Still waiting for knee surgery but physio is helping :)  Marion xx

QE#is now expected to arrive tomorrow (weds) at 07.10 ("approx"). To get there on time would involve getting up at 04.00, so I will be watching on TV.
Anyone fancy a trip to see her early next week when the tides are at a more civilised time?

Hi Chris
Next week sounds interesting. I'm wondering whether launching at Portchester would be neaer as I believe that she may be coming further up the harbour towards Fareham where new navigation platforms have been installed. Both Wendy and I would be very interested please.
Thanks, Best

....those platforms are the new transit marks, because you can't see normal buoys from her bridge due to overhand...she'll be on the new Princess Royal jetty, specifically built to take her...on the corner where the old carriers always berthed...they spent yesterday removing one of each pair of lateral buoys in the main channel so the carrier would fit through (!)

I know I am deviating off the theme of rowing now, so please feel free to give me a good spanking, but as HMS Queen Elizabeth is coming in at around 07:00 Wednesday, I was thinking of taking an early train from Warblington or Havant to Ports Harbour to take in the scene. I don't intend driving as I know what the roads will be like if such a spectacle takes place in Pompey. If anyone wants to join me, feel free to email me on md_taylor@live.co.uk rather than clog up this forum with non-rowing activity.

The 06:10 from Warblington (which will stop at Havant as well) gets in to Portsmouth Harbour at 06:32

Hi Andrew

That is so glaringly obvious, now that you point that out. The height of the twoers baffled me and everyone that I asked , but as ever you are a mine of info.

Thanks a bunch for that. Very interesting to read and many thanks for the links which are also full of facts and info.

Best

Andy
