LAST MINUTE UPDATE - Saturday 18/04 11:00 Row to Emsworth for naming, blessing and launch of Slipper's new Celtic Longboat
This post was updated on .
ESSC have now obtained a second Celtic Longboat, and this Saturday they plan to hold a blessing, naming and launch ceremony; ESSC are welcoming rowers from other clubs to attend. We will thus have a row up the Harbour towards Marker and then head down to Emsworth to join the celebrations.
ESSC will be offering teas and coffees and the bar will be open from Noon. The schedule of the day will be as follows:-
12:00 - Visiting rowers to arrive by water or road
12:00 - Teas and Coffee available.
12:30 - Blessing, naming and Launching ceremony in car park
12:45 - try out rowing in new boat
13:30 - Event close - any visitors welcome to join us in the bar.
We will have a longer stay at Emsworth than usual but we will probably need to be heading back by 13:30 in order to have time to recover the boats at the Mill.
Forecast is currently for sunny intervals and light winds. High tide is at 13:02 (4.9m) so we will meet at 11:00.
Hayling Bridge is currently closed and traffic is backing up. Row is still on, assuming we can get there. For those not on foot / bike, you might want to set off a little earlier.
(Many thanks to Angie and Vernon for the live traffic reporting)
Sorry Dave and Jenny', I set off but got delayed in my attempt to get round the traffic so wouldn't be in time. Very disappointed to miss it on such a beautiful day. Will walk down and see you there. Marion W.
