I have been asked by Langstone Flood Watch (a community response to the risk of tidal flooding) to ascertain if any of the Cutters would be happy to volunteer as responders. The role is really for those who do not have to worry about their own property flooding and who, when a flood warning is received, would be willing to carry out a variety of tasks such as assisting with moving sandbags, organising any assistance that the elderly might require and so forth.
Hopefully we had all the storms for a number of years at once this winter and tidal peace will reign for an extended period but being prepared will ensure everyone stays dry.
