Membership Form Updates

Dear members - at the last Committee meeting we noted that membership renewals are very healthy with lots of payments received...

All members are also requested to complete and return a Membership and Declaration Form as well. This is in order to ensure that changes in your circumstances are kept up to date.

If you have paid, but not sent me a from, please let me know and send me a completed from.

i have a question - on the membership form it asks "if you are happy to have your contact details available to the other members" I have religiously ticked this box every year but i have never received the contact details of fellow members (who likewise wish to share)

Can you tell me why please

I do appreciate there may be some who do not wish to share their details and thats fine freedom of choice and all that but when there is a real need to contact eg at the recent event at the Northney Marina no one is able to efficiently arrange for boats to be returned to base and members to be shuttled back to their cars .I know it was eventually . Goodness knows what would happen if there was a real emergency and members were in real danger and yes i do know we carry radios for this purpose but you cannot contact nearest and dearest unless they have a radio switched on .Just in case you are thinking why don't i have my own radio - well i do because i have my own boat(s).

Totally agree James. I was stuck in traffic on the way to last Saturday 's row (A27 closed) and was not going to get there on time. I posted on the forum in the hope that someone might take a look, but it would have been so much more effective to have been able to phone the organiser.

John and all, we have asked this because from time to time, we are asked to connect Members with other Members.

We have never created a Members List accessible by all members -  to be honest I am not sure why... I did try a couple of years ago, but on Nabble its not easy to keep up to date and safe from abuse.

So, if anyone has any ideas on how we can do this easily and keep it updated preferably by the data owners -  think it could be useful.

In the meantime I suggest when teams get together for events - like crews for the Hamble; Cockleshell; Round Hayling and Great River Race - they set up a separate WhatsApp group that they can police and monitor. and then delete when no longer required.

Any thoughts welcome and will be put to the next Committee Meeting April 25th.
