Mid Week Row to Portsmouth Harbour Tuesday

This week I suggest we go to Portsmouth Harbour and take a look at £3 bn of our money in the form of HMS Queen Elizabeth. We will launch at Portchester Castle, row down harbour, have a sandwich at a suitable stopping place and row back.
Here's the plan:
0930. Meet boat park
1000 Depart
11.00 Launch Portchester
14.00 Recover Portchester
15.00 Return Langstone

Is anyone available to tow a second boat? If not, this outing is restricted to six people unfortunately. Dee and Nichola are already signed up, so we have room for three more.

Hi Chris,

Yes please if possible,  I have just acquired a towbar and have a number plate with approx 15 ft lead to the car. Fairly experienced caravan tower.  I'd like to come if possible. Not sure about insurance?

That should be ok Mike. The boats are insured and your motor insurance should cover you against at least third party risks but you might like to check that. Could a committee member confirm it is ok for Mike to tow?

Sue. the procedure is to meet at the boat park so we can load the boats. Then we cram ourselves into the minimum number of cars to go to Portchester and back.

HI Chris. I would like to row. Not bothered about seeing big boat. If you haven't got another tower I will look after the remainder. Geoff

It would be great to have you along, Geoff. We have 10 at present so if you want to come along you would be very welcome. You can avert your eyes when we get to the big boat.

Hi Chris

Unfortunately my insurer (Direct Line) has confirmed that the max length of a trailer that will be insured for third party risks is 7.5m / 25 ft . I assume the 4 oar boaT trailers are in excess of this ?

I'm unlikely to resolve this tonight so it looks like Geoff and / or I'll take one of the Teifies. Sorry will sort out insurance issues at another time.

Oh dear - the galleys are 30ft so it doesn't look as though you are covered.
So, back to Plan A.
Could Dee, Bobby, Al and Sue meet me and Nicky at 09.30, with packed lunches.
Geoff will post a time for the Remainder Row.
On the plus side it looks as though the weather will be dry.
