Passenger seat and swapping places in Sweare Deep

Hi all,
      Just wondering has anyone tried swapping places in the Celtic Longboat on a row? Also has anyone used the passenger seat yet? Keen to know what it was like if you have please

Yes, I've sat in passenger, and so has Nigel, on our row last Thursday morning. I swapped in to row, and found it straightforward, and the seat as comfortable as any other.
Nigel hopefully will report his experience of it

As a fairly new member I went out last Thursday in the Celtic Longboat which I found comfortable, especially for my feet! I started off rowing, and then swapped to be a passenger when we got to Northney. I hope this helps!

Nigel test drove the seat when Geoff was installing it, so I can't complain!
    A little restrictive in terms of space,  but quite comfortable and easy to move to and from.
More importantly, in terms of seat swapping, is the FLOOR - or lack of it!
The steep sloping smooth surfaces of the bilges are a trip and slip hazard.
This applies throughout the boat, so that even the cox has to be wary about moving about in the boat.
 Crew entering or leaving the vessel are also at risk of sliding uncontrollably down into the bilges.

Might I suggest at least a coat of (proper) anti-slip paint on all surfaces below seat level?
Failing that, application of. "Treadmaster" (expensive) in selected areas of the lower bilges?

The only thing is the foot plates which take longer to adjust. You need a crew with all the same leg length!!!!!

....and now can we encourage all members to contribute to the benefits we get from this new boat....like keeping it  c le a n , and  n o t   p a r k I n g   i t  u n d e r  branches of trees where birds roost !!!!!!

The new cover was covered in a new coat of white paint on Monday 23rd August. Cover cleaned and boat repositioned (slightly) in the hope that the birds will now miss! It may need further moving to cure the problem.

If users are aware of the problem it is easy to park S.D. in a good clean spot.
