
I visited the boat park today and found that - again - SOMEONE HAS BEEN FIDDLING WITH THE RADIOS.
ALL 4 in the store had had their earphone socket loose, and 3 had loose aerial connections. See photo of what I am referring to.
Last time an earphone socket was left like this, a tiny drop of seawater got in. Shortly afterwards strange crackling sounds were heard as the seawater ( conductive ) reached the battery connections.
The set was burned out and ruined beyond repair.
PLEASE do not fiddle with these radios - especially if you don’t know EXACTLY what goes on inside them!
Use them well. Abusers go to xxxx!
I’ll clean, silanise and recharge them asap, then return them to service.
