Unfortunately I am no longer available to attend this day and am looking for a volunteer to attend with Vernon. Ideal for row organisers! Please let me know below if you would like to take my place.
Details below
Sunday 27th September. From 11am to 3pm, at Harbourside Centre, Northney Marina - the indoor rowing centre - - and water access at the New Cut off North Slip.
This event for the whole local coastal rowing community, as we leave summer and head for Autumn and Winter rowing - we have new considerations for Clubs and Crews and safety inside and outside the harbour.
The plan is to invite a Rowing Lead and Safety Officer from each Club to attend and participate in the Plenary Sessions and practical on-the-water sessions.
The scope of the Safety Day is to bring together the rowing Leads and safety officers of the 21 Rowing Clubs and Sailing Clubs (that row), together with the Harbourmasters, RNLI and Coastguard - so that we can discuss the Risks and Safety Plans in place.
We want to ensure that the rowers, coxswains, Clubs and responders are aware of the different characteristics of the rowing boats, what might go wrong and how to ensure crews are safe - sharing your own and others 'best practice'.
The aim is also to demonstrate recover procedures for boats.
