Rowing in restricted visibility

Rowing into fog today emphasised the need for boats on excursions to keep in visual contact to ensure that any last minute changes of plan can be communicated and assistance given if any boat gets into difficulties.
I am as guilty of sprinting on ahead as anybody but in today's conditions it was surprising how quickly all contact was lost.
