Sallyport

Jo Beardsall
A couple of issues noted with Sallyport today.
The number 4 (stroke) footplate does not fit ( in the shorter leg positions).I am wondering if it has Langstone Lady’s footplate and the wrong one got put back in when we came back from Morbihan?
I would have checked but LL is out on the trailer at the moment. I will check when next able to but if anyone is using it meantime please be aware.
The issue is that when the current plate is in, with the wooden securing batten in place, the footplate can still jump out, which it did.( Luckily only the whole of Emsworth Quay saw my backward roll off the seat!).
Also on oar 2 the white collar has split and does not sit in the gate properly.
It did take on a bit of water today, which it does, and it is probably due to the hot weather and shrinkage. We also had 6 people in it. Nothing that couldn’t be sponged out.

I will check the footplates tomorrow morning when we put Lady back in the boatpark. I will also look at the oar but only to see if we have a replacement as I wouldn't have a clue how to fix it!

Sally was still taking in water on the round Hayling race yesterday. We ended up carrying about 200 litres!
We emptied her, rinsed her then left the bung in with some fresh water in the bilges in the hope of lessening the drying out of the timbers.

Sadly Sallyport is still leaking although it did not have as much water as it took on Sunday (but then it was on the water for half the time). I am not sure if this is related or not, but we noticed that there appeared to be a line of water along the first rib that sits at the same level as the footplate on the port side. There was a line of water both below (between the rib and the support for the footplate) and above the rib.
