Saturday 11th October row update

RichardThrift
The row will start at 3pm at the Mill
I am writing this in the middle of a humungous rainstorm that is thundering down on the Conservatory roof so I thought agghhh the rowing for tomorrow--I ought to look at all the comments on my last post of Oct 5th.
I see you are all waiting with baited breath to the weather forecast. Well it is tricky. High tide is 14.01 on a 5.1 so there will be lots of water around, but the weather at 12 noon is light rain showers 15C 82% humidity going to heavy rain showers at 1'oclock and 2o'clock.
So this is what I suggest we all do. Meet at 3'oclock when there are sunny intervals, row around the harbour--perhaps under the bridge and through the billy train posts have a look at the bird sanctuary, that should test the Cox's skills!!--not too close so as to avoid the wrath of the RSPB and Nigel!! and then go back to theMill arond 4 to 4.30. Enjoy a drink at the Oak or even the Ship for a change. I know this is finishing 2 to 2 and a half  hours after high tide but as the water is so high it is worth the gamble--I think. The sunshine really starts at 4pm and humidity is down to 58% & 15c. So it will be a great time to enjoy the elements and the winds are lowish. Take layers and sunglasses.
Please do post your thoughts and hope to see some of you tomorrow. Ideas are welcome.
Have a great week-end

Hi Geoff, Thanks for your message. According to web site Tidetimes.org-- Langstone HT is 14.01-- and Emsworth Chandlers Portsmouth chart says 13.48 for Portsmouth. Whilst I would give way to your superior knowledge of these things down this neck of the woods are you sure you are right? Anyone else can comment as well for if there are any other web sites useful I would like to know.
Kind regards
Richard

I'm going off-piste tomorrow I'm afraid. Some Dinghy Cruising Association chums are heading for My Lord's Pond so I will take Kittiwake out at 11.30 for lunch there, returning at about 1600. If anyone wants to come they would be very welcome. BYOL.

...no it's not, Geoff!
 Richard is right.
Good idea, by the way, Richard to delay the start,- we just have to remember to be sharpish about getting the boat(s) back as the tide will be dropping fast tomorrow afternoon!
Cheers
Nigel.

Sorry Richard. You are right with height. I forgot to add hour.
