Apparently we are expected to perform a sea shanty for one of the events! Rachel asked me to find one that we could all learn. On discussion we came up with one called 'South Australia' as it has only a few words to the verse and a repeating chorus you could all learn (please!)
Words below plus a link to a performance by Fishermans friends.
Please can you all take time to listen to this and try to pick up the tune. I will print out the words to take with us and we can practice every time we are out of hearing distance of anyone!
We can do this guys!!!
South Australia
In South Australia I was born
heave away, haul away
In South Australia round Cape Horn
We're bound for South Australia
Haul away you rolling kings
To me heave away, haul away
Haul away, you'll hear me sing
We're bound for South Australia
As I walked out one morning fair
'Twas there I met Miss Nancy Blair
I shook her up and I shook her down
I shook her round and round the town
There ain't but one thing grieves me mind
To leave Miss Nancy Blair behind
And as we wallop around Cape Horn
You'll wish to God you'd never been born.
And the link to listen to it is
