We have been told that we can take our new Celtic Longboat as well as the two Solent Galleys to be part of the Boat Race Festival of Rowing Flotilla, so we can now take 18 rowers.
Based purely on order of posting, the following 18 members are included for this event: Mark Savill Dee Alison Kidd Diane Walkington David Etheridge Tom Bennett Tina Frances Mark Taylor Jane Davey James Griffin Rachel Phil Joan Matt Bev Ron Cheryl The Reserves are: Alison Bent Anne Diane Chatterton Can all members who have been selected in the 18, please pay £20 to cover the entry fees and towing costs by Friday 13th March please as we will need to pay our entry fees by the 14th March. If paying by BACS, please add a reference of "FLOT" followed by your name. If you are in the 18, but no longer want to take part, please reply to this post so that the next reserve can be moved up. If you are currently listed as a Reserve, please monitor the post to see if you are now in the 18. All rowers need to have a buoyancy aid or life preserver. Coxes and passengers must wear them whilst taking part in the flotilla. Full details of the day will be posted when confirmed but the current rough plan is to meet at Langstone at 07:30 (the clocks will have gone forward overnight!!!) in order to secure the boats and then set off for London. The boats will be launched at one of two slipways on the North side of the Thames just upstream from the University London Boat Club. After launching, there should be time for a wee paddle on the Thames in the vicinity of Oliver Island before arriving downstream at ULBC for about 10:30. ULBC has refreshments available. The launch of the flotilla in order to head down towards the boat race start at Putney is 11:45. The flotilla, in advance of the boat races, will start at 14:15. After the flotilla, the boats should continue upstream to the launching slipway for the recovery of the boats before driving back to ULBC for the option of further refreshments and prize giving. I assume that departure from ULBC will be about 18:00. If you are willing to drive to London and take fellow rowers, could you please post that. Please keep your eye on the forum for further updates. If you have any questions, please contact me or Rachel. Dave |

Hi Dave,
Very much looking forward to this, so thanks so much for organising! What are the bank details for BACS payment please? Also, I’m very happy to drive - I’ve got a big Volvo estate these days, so plenty of room for kit and 5 people (4+me) Thanks, Matt |

Could I get a lift please Matt and I'll also want to contribute to your fuel costs - just let me know the cost and I'll give you the petrol money on the day. Thank you.

James - many thanks for the offer to tow. We will take you up on that.
Many thanks to everyone who has offered a lift. Diane W - you are now in the crew if you would still like to attend. Can you please post to say whether you would still like to do this or not. The club does have some buoyancy aids in the box but I would recommend that everyone considers getting their own. Dave |
Great news! Yes please I'd like to join. Funds to be sent in a few minutes from now.
I would very much appreciate a lift if at all possible. Thanks, and very excited about the day! |
