I have towed a few times and generally felt a little apprehensive as I wasn't always happy that I had everything set up correctly.
I'm therefore setting up a small group to write a procedure, or check list, to follow to ensure we are all safe when towing. The intention is to set up a tow or several, write up what we have done and then enjoy some time on different water. I would welcome input from experienced towers and those who know the set up and anyone who has the ability to tow and would like to know more. Please let me know what you think and if you would like to help. Thanks Pete |

Dear Peter
Great idea I made a simple towing note for the Gig club but have no idea how I would attach it to Nabble so will send by email With the double trailer I want to collect it on Thursday afternoon ( have not looked at the tides to see if it is do able yet ) and bring it back to mine to have a review of the coupling again . if I can not sort it out it will go back to Blendworths There is only one size tow ball hitch in this Country so the tow hitch should easily slot onto any car . We just need to do it . Last time we removed a load of stones out of it and it worked fine . Not sure what is happening Thanks |

Great idea Pete. Although not a tower. To have some pooled experience and knowledge sharing makes perfect sense.

Hi Pete
It's not a big deal but a few pointers are to give traffic islands in the middle of the road a wide berth or the trailer will mount the curb and make sure the number plate + lights is really secured to the rear of the trailer otherwise a set of tools and a spare trailer wheel is essential Then having the bosun as your passenger is always an advantage . Lastly don't loose the keys to unlock the trailer from your ballcock If you will pardon the expression . James |

Hi Pete,
Great idea as I have agreed to tow to Morbihan and the last time I towed anything significant was over 25 years ago! Would like to get an opportunity to check everything and maybe have a trial short drive to make sure alls good before France. What do you suggest? Thanks Steve |

This link, to Colin’s useful summary, should work.
Please note that there are some errors and typos within this document, but the general thrust - “ use your common sense, and think ahead of a problem” - is good. https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B9EYArS9TuQ3R21tVTlMVGJ2Smc/view?usp=sharing&resourcekey=0-qltM1ZdJz5fmXtgiesU_gw |

Thanks Nigel that's great.
If it would be possible to have an amendable version it would be wonderful and I will update it for the cutters. Many thanks. Pete |
