Hi all,
Due to lots of different personal circumstances a number of the original participants in the Castle to Crane event in Scotland have had to drop out. We currently have 10 people which is enough to row the two Galleys we are taking but it would be better to have passengers and rotate if possible as it's a 13 mile row. If you think you might be interested in coming please post here and I'll contact you to tell you all about it. Rachel |
Hi Rachel
Hope this finds you all feverishly training for GRR and that everyone is happy and healthy. What are the costs for this pp please and when would we have to be there? Have you pr arranged accommodation booked, and if so what would be the cost of that pp per night? Is it a one or two day race? We are not match fit as such although our legs are pounding up and down the peaks of Snowdonia week in week out. Our arms are only Gym fit care of the rowing machines? Best to you, Steve and all. Hi Andy and Wendy, good to hear from you both. Steve and some of the others are towing the boats up to Scotland on Friday 20th. The Race is on Saturday 21st and the start time is still unknown but it sounds as if they want people around from about 9am. On Sunday people are hoping to row on Loch Lommond before returning home on Monday but this is of course optional. The entry fee for the race is £20 per person payable to me because I paid ages ago :-). The cost of towing the boats up will be shared too and I'm thinking it will be about £30 each but it could be a little bit more. As far as accommodation goes, Sue and Peter and Jenny and Dave are staying in caravans and motorhomes. Steve, Tom, Geoff, Sharon and Phil are booked at the Ibis Styles Glasgow Center West and Matt and Martin are booked at the Acorn hotel which is a mile away from the Ibis. Both hotels are a short Uber ride from the race start and after race party on Saturday night. Prices best checked on Booking.com as they change over time.
Hope you decide to come along! Rachel |
Hi Rachel,
Many thanks for that. We've been away over the weekend, hence I haven't had a chance to run it past Wendy Sounds great, and will get back to you later today or latest by tomorrow lunchtime. Best Andy From: Rachel [via Langstone Cutters RC] <ml+[hidden email]>

Hi Rachel,
Checked with Wendy and forgot that we have tickets for a gig on Friday Night in Manchester, which doesn't finish until about 23.00, hence we wouldn't be arriving until about 02.30 / 03.00 which would be pushing it a bit as we'd only likely manage four hours
sleep. So we will say many thanks , but it doesnt really work for us.
Nonetheless, wishing you all a super race and hoping that the weather gods are kind to you.
Have a great trip all and hope to see you soon.
Cheers, Best
Andy & Wendy
