Hiya
Thus far there are 23 boats entered and the organisers expect a few more on the day given the decent weather forecast.
Last years race times varied between 2 hours 3 minutes and the two Claydons came in around the 3 hours mark.
Sooooo, if we assume that it will take us about 2 h 45 minutes we should take A LOT OF WATER to fuel us for a possible three hour race.
The Mersea crew in the Harkers Gig are one to beat as they clocked 2 h 50 and Manningtree's Claydon clocked just over three hours.
Given the the race time and that it is going to be pretty warm I think that we should stick rigidly to 20 minute changes.
Taking experience into account I also think that Steve, Al and I should share the coxing and that Jenny, Dave and Wendy should rotate the bow and hope that everyone is happy with that?
If youre not please let me know.
LOADING & PREPARATION.
I am meeting Steve at the boat park at 19.00 tomorrwo / Friday to ready everything for the off.
Steve, Wendy and I should be able to move the boat , but assistance would be welcomed if you are free around that time.
FINAL CHECK LIST:
6 x Life Preservers need to be in the boat and cox MUST wear one at all times.
VHF Radio x One
Flag x One
Coil of Rope x One
LOTS of Water.
The kitchen is open from 08.00 for breakfast and my contact throughout has been Penny.
Penny confirms that there wil be plenty of willing helpers to assist us with unloading and loading, so no need for any of us to over do the lifting etc.
Wendy and I are leaving at about 06.00 just to be safe and to get clear of the dreaded M25 so we shoul dbe rcoking up around 08.15 ish.
Oh and it costs £ 6.00 p.p payable on the day to Penny.
Hope all ok
Best
Andy
