The article is promoting a book about historic pubs, and the Cutters get a mention in the book. Here’s the extract from the book…
“With its beautiful views of the picturesque Langstone Harbour, the Royal Oak has it all. Roaring fires, real ales, home cooked food, a sun trap garden and benches over looking the water. Where some pubs have cricket, football or rugby trophies, the Royal Oak’s trophy cabinet is showing off the exploits of the local traditional wooden boat rowing club of the Langstone Cutters. The rowers are often seen returning from local expeditions and enjoying a drink or two to relax. A jewel in Hampshire’s crown. Off the beaten track, but hunt this pub down, and you’ll be glad you did.”
The book is called Radicals, Rebels & Royals….could be well worth a read. I have a copy if anyone wishes to borrow it.
