row Thursday 6 March 14.15

Mark Taylor
I am designated row organiser for this week.  I know Sue  L went out today and there are race practices on Tuesday and Wednesday.  Does anyone wish to row On Thursday.  If so,  the row will be led by Frances rather than me. Destination to be decided on the day.

Today's weather was worryingly foggy, Mark was out when the fog rolled in and they couldn't see the shore.
So we need to assess tomorrow in case of a similar situation,
and make a decision whether to go or not. If we go,  it will probably be a row out and back without a tea stop,  rather than risk staying out later when fog could hamper us getting home.

Vernon, if the row is on, and we are all there, then we will certainly put Sweare Deep on her trailer (LLady as well?).
If we don't go out for weather reasons,  then we'll have to put a call out to HOH rowers for an organised meet to load up. I'm happy to come to this to help if it's needed.

Numbers wise we are currently 8, which is not ideal, as I don't think there are 3 amongst us who'd happily row a teifi skiff for a full length row... so all in all, it's looking a bit fragile!

Mark may be able to add to our numbers,  he's not sure yet,  in which case we can take LL with 5, and SW with cox and 3 rowers... again not ideal,  but at least we'd get out

Or maybe,  someone else will sign up,  let's see.

Either way,  please,  everyone,  CHECK HERE mid morning and before leaving home tomorrow,  for an update/ change of plan,  in case of cancellation.
Thank you

Thank you Frances, I think LL would be a struggle with the number of rowers you have, we can do that one on Saturday morning.

Hi Frances. The fog was gone by 1300 today and did not return until it was dark. I see no reason that it will be any different tomorrow. I will have a gps plotter with me if it suddenly comes back early.  Geoff

Just to clarify Geoff, the early morning fog cleared yesterday at 12.15, i believe lcrc went out for a row at about 13.00 and were packed away by 15.00.

At essc, we took our boat out to row z at 14.30, to the ship in Langstone.  Beautiful conditions.  On the return to Emsworth,  it was a little cooler and hazy. By the time we reached swaere deep, the haze  had become thick fog. Could not see any navigation marks and had no view of any shore.  Was not a good situation to be in. The transition from haze to thick fog took less than 5 minutes.  Neither Frances or I will be taking a gung ho attitude to the row today.

Let us wait and see what conditions are like later. Will post her after 12.00 noon

Hi Mark, I will have to leave the boat park by 5.15 today, so if that presents a problem I will drop out, which may help with numbers too potentially. Please advise. Thank you, Karen

Hi Karen,  thanks,  but don't drop out!
We'll definitely be back by then,  because we're meeting Vernon in boat park about 4.30 to shift boats around.
