Cockleshell Heroes Challenge at Eastney Cruising Association Saturday June 9th arrangements

Dave M
This post was updated on .
The Saturday events for the Cockleshell Heroes Challenge at Eastney Cruising Association will start at 11:00 with racing starting at 12:00. Racing will be complete by 15:30, the first races being sprints and the last race being the Fairway Trophy, a 1.2 nautical mile race at sea, weather permitting.

From 15:30, there will be a BBQ (Guide price: burger and trimmings - £2), "Cockleshell Challenge Beer"  at just £2 a pint and cake. All proceeds will go to the ECA nominated charity, Prostrate Cancer UK. ECA will welcome any cake donations.

In the evening, there will be DJ and live entertainment in the ECA clubhouse, which we are welcome to attend, from "Johnny Timberlake - the Pub Singer!".

Teams will be decided on the day.

Please bring life jacket / preserver if you have one. Coxes will need to wear one but would recommend that everyone wears one as the current is very strong at the harbour entrance and there tends to be a lot of boats / jet skis passing through.

The details are subject to change so please keep checking the forum for any updates. Please also look out for posts regarding getting boats ready for towing / rowing to/from ECA.

Hi James

It can indeed. It is just a few minutes walk from the ferry pontoon.

Dave

Ive offered on three occasions via this forum and email to row a galley down on Friday evening or early Saturday and have yet to receive a reply?

Last year this involved us getting up very early on Saturday morning and moving cars around on Friday evening.

Would you like me to take a galley down or not please, as I have the rest of the working week to plan?

Cheers
Andy

What time would you like us to arrive at ECA?   9.30 seems very early for an 11.00 start.  Sue

3 boats to launch in three-inch Sue.

Are you OK to row with our galley crew on Sunday Sue as Wendy has an inner ear infection and her balance us dodgy?
