Cost of my green card was £43.62 (including a £26 admin fee) from E Sure

Seeing James' post prompted me to double check with my insurer, and they have just confirmed you don't need a green card.

my insurer says you do + i would only be insured 3rd party if i did not have the green card
the fact that i know have one means that i have the same cover whilst driving abroad that i do whilst driving in the UK ie fully comp.
