Saturday 7th March saw Langstone Cutters Rowing Club secure victory at the third and final regatta of the 2025/26 Celtic Longboat Winter League hosted by Emsworth Slipper Sailing Club. The League which sees eight crews based in Chichester and Langstone Harbours compete over a triangular 2.5 kilometre course in identical four oared rowing boats based upon an original “Irish Curragh” in open, ladies and mixed classes. The boats, which have recently been introduced in traditional Rowing and Sailing Clubs in the area have taken the Coastal Rowing scene by storm and seen the introduction of the Winter league which this year was hosted by Chichester, Dell Quay and Emsworth Slipper Sailing Clubs all of which have recently developed successful rowing sections. Rachel Pointer, Rowing Captain of Langstone Cutters said “We are absolutely thrilled to bring the trophy back to Langstone. We are very much a Community Club that enjoys social excursion rows both at home and further afield but we also have a real competitive edge and enjoy racing with other like minded people. The Celtic Winter League has been a real success as evidenced by over 100 people coming together at Emsworth in their brightly coloured boats and kit for a great days racing”
