While on the subject of Get Up and Go! We have one more Open Day and 2 x 6 week Courses to run in 2019, dates for planning the diary are:
Open Day: This is the Open day at the Marina where we try to introduce potential candidates to the rowing boats and sign up to the Courses. Held at Northney Marina, the Cutters are invited to come along - even for a couple of hours - and chat to the drop-in visitors, show the them the boats and even take them for a spin - weather permitting.
The 6 Week Courses then run every Wednesday:
Courses 5 & 6: Run at 3pm and 6pm.
August 28th; Basics rowing in St Ayles Skiffs
Sept 4th; Sculling rowing in Teifis and Salter Skiffs;
Sept 11th; Rowing in Solent Galleys;
Sept 18th; Coxing in St Ayles Skiffs;
Sept 25th; (Cutters Visit)
October 2nd Rowing in Cornish Pilot Gigs;
This is proving very successful HBC and Sport England; will have had 50 people through the programme by the end of this current course and potentially 20 more in September/October. Many have moved on to join us and keep active in other ways.
The Plans for 2020 are not yet finalised, but will follow a similar pattern - 3 x Open Days and 3 sets of Courses that follow. Happy Rowing!!
