Hi all,
We have a nice boat of 6, with some general technique pointers/training and some of you wanting to perfect coxing. Should be a fun afternoon in and around the mill area helping each other out. Crew list: Liz John D Abi Julie Chris W Matt Look forward to seeing you all around 1:30ish to do some boat set up stuff first. High tide 16:10 Matt Hi all, It’s my turn to run the development/open row this month!! This is a great opportunity to brush up on your rowing skills, sculling, try coxing in a safe environment and generally just ask any rowing related questions or technique advice you may have. As well as to bring new people along to introduce them to our sport. It would be great to see lots of you there both new and old members for helping out duties etc. please!! When replying please state what you’d like to learn and if you are bringing a newbie to give it a try etc. Thanks. For those of you who have missed the last one of these days, below is Liz’s original post below outlining the day and what is planned etc. My day will run very similar to this - please ignore where peoples names are posted, this was for last month!! Many thanks, hope to see lots of you there!! Matt ——- As mentioned at the AGM, I intend to hold an open/development rowing day. This will consist of a number of short circuits with an opportunity for new rowers to have a go and also for current members to focus on their rowing style and confidence or perhaps practice coxing away from and into the beach. Perhaps also some Teifi experience? Please post below if you have friends who may wish to give rowing a go. Also post if you would like to develop your own rowing in a gentle and safe environment - and what you would like to focus on. We now have at least 9 newbies with only 2 newcomers in a boat at a time so may also need to get Gladys out(if we have enough members to support). Therefore suggest Langstone Lady for Cox/beach training led by me Sallyport and Sweare Deep (and maybe Gladys) for newcomers/improvers led by….with support from….. and anyone else available. Millie for Teifi training led by…. I will provide a short introduction / waiver signing for newcomers at about…while the rest of the members prepare the boats. Will try to get the boats with newbies away first and then bring down LL and Teifi. Please be careful and considerate as the foreshore will be crowded! Please ensure that your guests come appropriately attired with layers, "wet shoes/boots" and with waterproofs just in case. We will do short circuits and swap crews in and out as required to ensure that everyone gets a few goes. Please be flexible! All boats to carry a radio and all coxes to wear a buoyancy aid. …..has kindly volunteered to be beachmaster initially but will need to swap round with another member so they can get in a row too! |

Hi Matt,
Sorry I missed this post but would like to come along and have a go in a teifi and maybe try some feathering Thanks for organising Kimmy |

Hi Kimmy,
No problem. We won’t have enough water until around 2ish, so the first half hour will be about coxing and setting up the boats etc. Feel free to come along to this part too. Feathering will be no problem to help you with, maybe get you coxing too. We’ll just see how things go with the Teifi as there’s only 7 of us, but if we can I’ll get you out in it. See you there, Matt |

Thank you Matt and Liz for a great session. Loved the Teifi Liz is such a great instructor.
Your briefing session on channels and how to cox in and out made it sound so easy, and putting into practice with the Teifi, really helped. Shame the cox (me) didn’t check the seaweed on the rudder, as so much on there it wouldn’t steer properly Great afternoon Thank you Kimmy |
