Re: ESSC Celtic Race 1st March - with crews and arrangements
Colin will be at the boat park at about 9.30am on Saturday to tow so those who have volunteered to help please can we arrive just after 9.00am and get the trailer ready for Colin just to pull up and go?
The weather forecast for Saturday is Dry with light North to North East winds. Temperature 7-9 degrees Celsius.
Therefore, the ESSC Rowing Regatta WILL GO AHEAD.
All rowers and coxes to be aware of the following rules,
Race Rules
Communication between race officer and coxes of boats will be done using VHF channel P4. Race marshals in the RIBs will also use this frequency. Coxes who fail to execute the penalties listed below by race officers or RIB Marshals will be disqualified.
The following rules will apply
• Any boat whose bow is over the start line when the race starts will have a 360 degree turn imposed as a penalty to be carried out before the first buoy turn.
• Each buoy or mark dictated to be turned must be carried out in the direction specified by race officers, any boat failing to turn at the correct mark must correct their course and take the turn as instructed.
•
• OVERTAKING AND 360° PENALTY
• Boats may overtake only if they have ‘clear water’ from other boats.
• Boats that obstruct or force another boat to change direction must make a 360° penalty turn before finishing, without obstructing other boats. This will involve finding clear water.
• The penalty for hitting any moored boat is a 360° turn to be completed before finishing the current leg, without obstructing other boats.
BUOY TURNS
Please refer to the diagram below Overlapping boats are measured at 3 boat lengths from the mark. The penalty for infringement or for hitting a buoy is a 360° turn before finishing the current leg without obstructing other boats.
Sorry diagrams didn’t copy over but Dee, who is coxing, does have the diagrams.
