I know that most people will have already seen this on Facebook ( along with some brilliant photos ) or looked at the GRR website but for the benefit of those that haven't and because I like to keep a record of these things.
The organisation at the Great River Race was really good this year and everyone enjoyed it. There was a big change to the handicap system. Instead of trying to start the boats at the right time for their handicaps they just spread the boats out in groups starting with the slowest which meant that they didn't have to start all the Celtics and Gigs within 3 minutes of each other like last year! We all had timers in our boats and our handicaps were added to our actual times to work out the results.
Just out of interest the handicap for a Claydon was +27mins, Celtic +42 mins and GRP Gig +48mins.
Both of this years crews rowed brilliantly and the results were excellent.

Actual time was 2:57:24 which was amazing in such tricky conditions

A Huge Thank you to Dave C and Phil for towing, Dave M and Chris W for being their co-pilots and Josie for bringing them back to Langstone on Friday.
Another Huge Thank you to Jackie for organising the minibus for us all, as always a testing and stressful job requiring nerves of steel and enormous patience!
Thanks also to Phil and Karen for being our captains, organising training rows and printing loads of stuff!
