Despite strong challenges from a Zachary (a lightweight four rowing with hatchets and a somewhat younger crew! ) and the Sea scouts in Mercury, Sallyport was the fastest 4 oared and in fact the fastest rowed boat on the day which is a real bonus for the club.
Our ladies crew in Langstone Lady were only 22 seconds behind the mens crew in the Elephant, the other Solent Galley, which is an amazing achievement.
The time the girls posted in Lottie was also impressive beating all but two of the Bursledon Gigs and the Gig club juniors in Acorn too!
But it isn't just about results. Thank you to the people who didn't get a chance to row in their first choice of boat but came and gave it their all anyway. To everyone for loading and unloading boats with good humour and teamwork. To the people who towed, with special mention of Steve who towed twice on the return leg and Jenny and Dave for helping with that! It was a brilliant day and Langstone Cutters is a brilliant club.
Lovely day of racing , if it wasn't for a certain gig the ladies crew would have been more than 22 seconds ahead of the men's elephant crew .....arghhhh 😂😊
