Don't let the original idea of rowing to Dell Quay die Matt. It's a great idea and one that would make for a cracking Saturday excursion row, complete with lunch stop.
I can't see it working on a Friday evening as Geoff has pointed out the effect of rowing during evening neap tides and as Chris has also pointed out, we would need to be back by 10pm. With calm settled weather, the trip is not only comfortably acheivalable if we launched from Northney, but would be one that we could all look forward to and plan. Strong crews would be essential for this one, although it would only be a 30 minute longer round-trip than the Portchester Castle row. Keep the very fine idea alive and if members want to go by mini bus then fair enough, but don't lose faith or site of the row which is a great idea.
Best
Andy

I agree Andy , it would be a lovely row but if launching from the marina , I suspect there will be a fee as the gig club have to pay .

Matt,

Confer with Chris, Geoff and Andrew. It would be possible if a lunchtime and I do have concerns with alcohol, long rows and boat recovery especially Nocte. It would be great to row that side of Chi harbour soon and we have previously really enjoyed the Dell Quay to Bosham return. Maybe there is a tide to do that Lunchtime row and stay on to enjoy the evening. If you have Boat yard contacts could we leave boats overnight and party on cab home and sort sober recovery?

Cheers

Sounds like a good idea Steve, I do have some connections at the yacht club. I'm in Dublin next week, but will have a chat with them when I get back, and see what I can do.
