Life-saving phone app

Chris Partridge

Earlier this year a couple cut off by the tide on the Welsh coast got themselves rescued by sending their position to the lifeboat using the What3Words app on their mobile phone: https://rnli.org/news-and-media/2021/february/01/aberystwyth-and-new-quay-rnli-lifeboat-takes-part-in-multi-agency-search-for-peo.
I was impressed a little while back when Nichola broke her ankle on an isolated footpath and the paramedics found her rapidly by using the app.
So I think it would be a great idea if everyone with a smartphone installed the app (available for both iOS and Android) and took a little time learning how to use it so if disaster strikes we can give our exact location to the lifeboat immediately.
See what3words.com for all the details.

Thanks Chris - Really sensible - I had downloaded it some time ago but had not checked out how to use it, not clever - so a quick look at the instructions was worthwhile!
