Monday row! 29th March. CREW CHANGES, FINAL..update 3

nigel
This post was updated on .
 Update 3.
PLEASE READ ALL THE NOTES BELOW........

The final order of the day will be:-
Using one galley  for group A  they will have a departure time of 10:45

GROUP A             Onsite at 10:35, briefing, then departure 10:45 in Sallyport.

BARRY SCOTT replaced by MARILYN ROGERS (captain)
JOAN SAYWOOD
TESSA COLLINS
JAMES GRIFFIN
BOBBY CLAYTON

The next crew will use the other galley, and will have a departure time of 11:00

GROUP B.             Onsite at 10:50, briefing, then departure 11:00 in Langstone Lady.

MARION LUSCOMBE (captain)
LYN MURRAY
ELIZABETH ECONOMIDES
LIZ HALL
KAREN BAKOVLJEV

NOTES:-
A).   The return time is no longer critical, but Captains should inform the shore contact "LANGSTONE BASE"(me)( by VHF channel 8) 15 minutes in advance of the anticipated time of arrival so that, if necessary, assistance with recovery into the boatpark can be arranged. Very high tides may make recovery onto dollies, and up the slope, more difficult than usual.

B).   Geoff and I will be "around" as we will be doing some work on club moorings that morning, using a Teifi.

C).   Rowplans will be restricted to Chichester harbour, due to weather predictions.

D).   Rowplans will be restricted in the emsworth area, due to the scheduled lift-in of cruiser boats from the Quay. It will probably also mean that the pontoon in the emsworth channel will be occupied and busy. Both areas should be avoided out of courtesy as well as safety.

E).   CHECK YOUR BOAT and equipment before use!!!  Something unusual may have happened during the extended period of lay-up. [e.g. dried-out plank leaks, gates loose or seized, etc.]

F).   CHECK IN.    Use QR code, or sign up on list with personal contact name + number/email/address as appropriate. It's required by law.
G).   Remember, life-jackets, drinks, warm clothing, masks and social distancing [cox in boat first , and bow pushes off and gets in last], and cleansing gear before and after use. ( we aren't out of the woods yet!).

H).    Consistency.   A word to be conjured with! Consistency of crew make-up may become important in mitigating the spread of covid. Think about this today and on future rows. It could make life much easier!

>>>>

Bring your masks, drink and common sense. Dress warm. Briefing before departure so arrive in time for that and launching. Try reading the latest BR covid doc....
https://www.britishrowing.org/wp-content/uploads/2021/03/210311-Managing-COVID-19-v11.1.pdf
Max 6 in boat park, max 12 on shoreline, test and trace p.23, PPE p.31

🚗 CAR PARKING.    Remember it is a high high tide (5.1 metres) so with the SSE wind the SHIP car park may flood. Park on the higher ground.

P.S. Don't forget it will be British Summertime !

Hello Cutters! How are you all? I hope you are all well
- and raring to get out on the water again, and flex a few of those stiff muscles - in a very gentle return to what approximates to reality. Of course the reality may be delayed a short while by any combination of BORIS and COVID, so keep watching for updates.....
Being that time of month on the 29th (just after the full moon)
the tides are spring (coefficient 113), HW just after midday (1220 ...BST !!! ), and nice and easy for us to adapt to one of our normal-(does anyone remember what that is?)-ish trips. Probable start time 10:00
Remember all the risk assessments, safety measures as well as the current covid restrictions. If these allow, we will meet up in groups of 6 or less to a timetable to be set nearer to the date.
Sign up as usual

...then we'll be running on water, not gas. !
           but remember

Hi Nigel I use Strava on rows and we used it in the Gig club for the Castle to Crane 5 mile challenge last year. It's very easy to use, happy to demo ...  but not on the day as I've just realised I will be in school!
