Ocean to City race in Cork - 6th June 2020

Hi all,
I realise this is rather advanced notice but it would be useful to gauge the level of interest in this event not least because next year it clashes with the Round Hayling race. It is the Irish equivalent of the Great River Race and is 28km on much more exposed waters so it's not for the fainthearted! The club have done it a number of times in the past and it makes a great trip. The race entry fee is 30 euros per person and you need to allow for the ferry, your share of the transporting the boats across and accommodation in Cork for a couple of nights.

Please post below if you are interested. Crews will be selected to be competitive and we will be training for this one!

I am very keen to do Ocean to City... not sure I'd be able to make all of the training rows though.
My preference would be taking part in a non competitive boat if possible

...Just a reminder that the Round Hayling Rowing Race is the LCRC's home event... we are the prime hosts... Mike

Michael/Lesley, we had not yet started planning the crews to participate in the Round Hayling yet - it's a bit early.

The Rowing Captains normally do this.

As it looks like they are planning to be in Cork, I am sure they will have plans to put together teams and crews who are taking part in the RHRR as well.

Mike

Thanks for clarifying Mike, the club will of course be supporting Round Hayling as we always do and we will post for crews and helpers nearer the time. We also need to make sure there are enough boats for both events which may mean we need to borrow one for Cork which is why I'm asking for interest now.

So much rowing so little time!

Hi,
I’m just showing my interest in the Cork row please - I’d love to come and I’ll be able to confirm for definite in February (I’ve got a few changes happening in the new year - all good ones though!)

I personally would be interested in participating. What would be the chance of entering a supervet mens category in Gladys? I read that the event has a supervets category. If An Ras Mor use the same handicapping system as the GRR, then we could be in with a chance of international fame. . I will contact the others who raised the trophy on the Thames last year.

Hi Mark, they do base their handicaps on the GRR .
