RE: Open Row Sunday 17 July and Visit of TS Alacrity to try Rowing

Andy Mac

Steve

If you , me and one other bring a skiff over using the north slip, I'm happy to take it back over, with two assisting, as i recall that you have training or similar to attend to.
Three is fine to recover the boat and put her to bed etc.
Cheers
Andy

Ron,

Please put me down to cover Juniors with Rachel until just after High Water 11 ish and hopefully Mike/Katy will be there ? or another DRB checked club member will be able to take over, if not we would stop the on water activity at that point and that may well have been enough by then. It maybe that they are "covered " by attending TS Alarcity officers and PL insurance. Then we can look at them going out with appropriate club coxes. Our own juniors will not be covered at this point unless a Junior session cover is on the shore. Apologies for the red tape but that it is the way it is we don't want to put anyone off ! But we have to cover the club and stay within Safeguarding as with Mikes post.

Cheers

Ron and Cheryl, note that Bella is currently in the boat park and planning to stay until after the Skiffie World Championships to allow the Strangford crew to practice.

She can be used for the Cadets to row - I have 4 junior oars they can use. I also suggest we get them in the Skiff with paddles - to play with a bit of 'dragon boat skiffing'. We did this at Cobnor and it was really great fun... There are 8 paddles in the garage and a biscuit tin makes

Paul Bennet is down as beachmaster, Ron and Cheryl duty rowers and Barry for juniors.
We have been told that we can expect in the region of 12 cadets so can we please ask as many cutters to assist as possible please.
Steve W has suggested that it might be an idea to bring St Ayles Skiffs that are sea worthy over as they are good for youngsters first time row, so if anyone can sort that it would be very much appreciated.

So far we have

Beachmaster - Paul B

Duty rowers - Ron, Cheryl

St Ayles Skiff Bella organiser - Mike

Other St Ayles Skiff organiser - Steve W, Andy Mac

Rowers - Alison, Dee, Matt, Nigel, Tina, Rachel?

Duty Junior Coordinator - Chris P (Chris will you stand in for Barry please?)

Many thanks to all so far Room for more if you would kindly post in the usual way please, thanks.

Hi guys,
I'm really sorry but afraid I have to cancel out of Sunday morning due to a family matter. I should be done by lunchtime though, and will come down them to see if you still need a hand. Thanks, Matt

Hi Ron
I'm looking at the list of rowers available to welcome and provide the cadets with a good session on the water and cannot see where we are going to get a crew from to take the St Ayles back to Northney?

Ideally we need four to pull the boat up the north slip and I'm noting that a number of people are only available until around 11.

Accordingly, we would need to take the boat back at 10.30 which would pull crew off support rowing with the cadets.

It would also mean that additional St Ayles would only be available for an hour and a half.

Given that Bella is already at the Mill and we have a compound full of boats, wouldn't it make more sense to dedicate what crew resources we have to assist the cadets and to abandon the idea of using the additional St Ayles?

That would also enable me to help you at the Mill throughout and until the end of their visit.

Best
Andy

I have spoken with Steve W regarding this and he reckons that he can arrange to get the boat back later.
