Please note that it has been agreed that cutters host and take rowing members of T.S. Alacrity (Sea Cadets Denmead unit) during the open row Sunday 17 July.
Paul Bennet is down as beachmaster, Ron and Cheryl duty rowers and Barry for juniors. We have been told that we can expect in the region of 12 cadets so can we please ask as many cutters to assist as possible please. Steve W has suggested that it might be an idea to bring St Ayles Skiffs that are sea worthy over as they are good for youngsters first time row, so if anyone can sort that it would be very much appreciated. So far we have Beachmaster - Paul B Duty rowers - Ron, Cheryl St Ayles Skiff Bella organiser - Mike Other St Ayles Skiff organiser - Steve W, Andy Mac (Steve will also obtain buoyancy aids) and Nigel We expect TS Alacrity Cadets to arrive from 09:00 onwards, so can we have skiffs on the shore by 08:45 please and start launching other boats around then. Steve Woods will be available until around 12:00 when he will be coxing the ladies in Bembridge GRR training. Rowers - Alison, Dee, Tina, Rachel? Duty Junior Coordinator - Steve W and Rachel (Until High Water then, hopefully someone will be there to take over) Many thanks to all so far Room for more if you would kindly post in the usual way please, thanks. |
Ron, that's a lovely idea... we need to sort out Safeguarding - and we have the resources for that. I will ensure Bella is available. Mike Gilbert

Thanks so much Mike that would be great as we are expecting at least ten cadets. Waiver forms will be signed before they come (Cheryl and I have sorted that) and advise and action on safeguarding will be much appreciated. ~ Best Ron and Cheryl

Ron,
Brilliant I will be there to assist in any capacity on the 17th up to HW Bembridge is booked from HW for GRR Training . Yes St Ayles Skiff (S) would be ideal opportunity for others to try them too. I suggest we Re -post these details and rower lists 10/11th on the open row detailing, so no duplication confusion. Cheers

Ron and Cheryl, note that Bella is currently in the boat park and planning to stay until after the Skiffie World Championships to allow the Strangford crew to practice. She can be used for the Cadets to row - I have 4 junior oars they can use. I also suggest we get them in the Skiff with paddles - to play with a bit of 'dragon boat skiffing'. We did this at Cobnor and it was really great fun... There are 8 paddles in the garage and a biscuit tin makes a great drum! Mike Gilbert

Ron,
Please put me down to cover Juniors with Rachel until just after High Water 11 ish and hopefully Mike/Katy will be there ? or another DRB checked club member will be able to take over, if not we would stop the on water activity at that point and that may well have been enough by then. It maybe that they are "covered " by attending TS Alarcity officers and PL insurance. Then we can look at them going out with appropriate club coxes. Our own juniors will not be covered at this point unless a Junior session cover is on the shore. Apologies for the red tape but that it is the way it is we don't want to put anyone off ! But we have to cover the club and stay within Safeguarding as with Mikes post. Cheers
