We now have a crew, and a strong one I think. I suggest we take Gladys this time, although it seems to make little difference which one we enter.
The lineup is:
Frances
Mark
Damian
Alan H
Me

The competition will also include a couple of Bursledon Gigs from the Hamble, I believe.
I will reply to the organisers tomorrow.
Do you all want to stay overnight or return same day? If staying, do you want to camp or go to B&Bs or something?

The journey takes about two and a half hours according to Google Maps, which is usually a bit pessimistic. This makes a day trip feasible.

To my surprise, my parents in law planned to travel up to bro-in-law's place near Maldon on that very day, so I will be giving them a lift.
I rang one of the organisers, Cath and told her the glad news of our participation. She said that Stone Sailing Club is offering free camping on the site, and there is lots of local accommodation. I personally plan to camp, returning first thing on Sunday.
Apparently there will be three Bursledon Gigs and two Claytons in the race, including Witchoar.

Hi Crew...
It would be great if we could get out on Saturday for a training run. Sandra is organising a row to HISC so we could make it part of that, perhaps. Are you all available?

Nigel tells me that Witchoar are spoiling for a fight, even actually training. So who is around for a run Sunday at the open rowing? We should be able to get on the water at 1700 so let's all assemble then and experiment with a few seat positions.

Good to hear, Damian. I don't want to force people to be brave and go if they aren't up to it, though. Let's see what the email appeal produces.
Get well soon!

I am delighted to say that noted oarsman and Essex resident Joe Lane will be joining us tomorrow, so Damian can cox and poor Frances can stay in bed.
Travel arrangements will be down to the individuals on this occasion, as we all seem to be doing our own thing. I will be taking my in-laws up but returning with an empty car so if Damian and Mark want to go up with Alan and back with me that would save a bit of petrol. I am undecided whether to stay the night or come back in the afternoon so I will go with the flow. What is the consensus chaps?

Hi Guys,

Great news.
Yes no problem to take. What time do we want to meet there? Race starts 12.30 so 11.30 meet?
If so then I suggest 8.30 leave here. I could pick up Damian first from Westbourne 8.15, then Mark from Denvilles 8.20
